Grace is going into 8th grade in Jacksonville. She came to Tallahassee so that she could attend SciGirls. She has a deep interest in science and she thinks her interest comes from her sense of constantly questioning things. She likes meeting other girls who like science and is happy that SciGirls is an all girls camp.
Mei is a junior at SAIL High School. She is very focused on her academics and she often felt like she didn't fit in. At SAIL she feels like her teachers understand her. This past summer she worked for the Leon County Courthouse working for the GIS program. The opportunity to learn about computer programming was something she loved.
Diksha is from India and now she goes to Cobb Middle School. She wondered how people would be here. At first they were very nice but then the students at Cobb weren't so nice to her. She thinks perhaps because of her accent and that she is different. Her mom told her about SciGirls and she has really liked it. It has been the best part of her life so far.
Corinna is a rising 8th grader who attends the School of Arts & Sciences. She loves the school and its nurturing environment. She attended SciGirls this past summer and loved meeting women scientists. She tells other teens to try new things and get off your screen.
Byron is 13 years old and spending the summer in Tallahassee from Mobile AL. He spends his days at the Palmer Munroe Teen Center. He likes the field trips the Teen Center takes them on including WFSU and the FSU Football stadium. He is thinking about a future either in football or the marines.
